About Vintage Homes, LLC
The relationship between Sarg Heath and Matt Parnell is a
classic example of teamwork. Matt has been around construction most of his
life. His interest in building started in Central Illinois where his
grandparents built and sold homes. He worked for a number of builders in
Madison, WI, where he met and married Jennifer, Sarg's daughter. He
contemplated going into business for himself, but the time wasn't right.
Sarg, a vice president for a large Eastern chemical company, made 23
moves in his career and it became overbearing. He had lived in 23 different
homes, five of which he was very involved in their construction. He contacted
his son-in-law, Matt, and decided to join forces in a custom home building
company.
They decided to try a few spec homes and see how their work
was accepted. These homes were well received and created a solid demand. Their
partnership has been going strong ever since. They do admit, however, that
there were a few sleepless nights during the beginning spec home phase.
How we feel about the people we work with? Matt says, "The beauty of
the people we work with is that they are all solid professionals. They take a
tremendous amount of pride in their work. They really don't need much
motivation. They are a great group!" To this Sarg adds, "We try to treat our
subs as our customers. This has developed a lot of loyalty. Most have been with
us for a long time." A few of the special features they like to incorporate in
the homes they build are attractive interiors and outside eye appeal.
We are an Energy Star and Green Built Homes Builder whose goal is to
protect your investment and enhance your home's comfort, safety, durability and
energy efficiency. Many homes have an open concept and Matt has a real talent
for building unique arches and columns. We like to add architectural features
to the living area to give the home character along with attention to detail
and craftsmanship. All of these things put our homes in an award-winning class.
Matt is originally from the Appleton area. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two
daughters. For recreation he golfs and spends time with his family at their
cottage near Minocqua. This is a great place for a family retreat! Sarg was
raised outside of Boston. His wife, Sue, contributes to the business as office
manager.
"Becoming members of the Madison Area Home Builders
Association has introduced some pleasant surprises," exclaims Matt. "It's
amazing the amount of help we have received from the other members. These
supposedly are our competitors, yet they are willing to lend us a hand, answer
questions and do what they can do to help. It's very special." Sarg feels
strongly about the benefit they receive from the annual Parade of Homes. "Last
year we generated five new homes from the show."
